UPDATES - 31.01.2014 [LINK]
Friends, I decided for my own sanity, I will just recap the ones I feel like recapping. Not every episode but the ones that deserves the full recap treatment. Whilst episode 8 onwards are interesting, I just don't feel like chasing after the series and then rush to my computer to write them all. So I will just write short summaries in point form until a full recap is deserving. If you see this notice it means it is a short recap.

FUNNLING METRE

Still ... Patience Funn! Patience!! Another short recap but at least a huge leap in terms of moving along with the whole Ruco-Sik Sik storyline.

Char Gor employs Ruco because Ruco helped him in a molestation on bus accusation and basically Char Gor feels Ruco is his helpful lucky star and since Ruco also was his counterpart in Malaysia, he likes Ruco and employs him. The question is why Ruco wants to work for Char Gor? Simple. After he found out Sik Sik returned to the same agency, he decided to join her. Boring isn't it. What is it about Sik Sik that makes him do so much for her?

Back at the agency, Ruco becomes like the popular spokesperson on behalf of Char Gor. Whatever he suggests, Char Gor agrees. In fact Char Gor feels he has been wronged by his fellow colleagues and couldn't understand why they sorta hate him. When Ruco successfully helps Sik Sik to solve her foodie tour group problem, Sik Sik wasn't very grateful. In fact Ruco got a call from his mom and I don't know why Sik Sik kinda said like "Your aunt? Your godmother?" because she couldn't believe whatever Ruco said. So when Ruco bumped into a renowned music producer/agent/whatever named Marco who seems so friendly with Ruco, Sik Sik couldn't let it go and kept asking how he knew Marco, etc etc. For once Ruco said nothing, was quiet, glum and yet Sik Sik kept asking, saying things like she knew so little about him, he had lied to her too often, she deserves to know the truth, etc etc. Very annoying. For once a very serious Ruco looked at her and asked "Why are you so intent on reopening a closed wound? If I don't tell you, I have my reasons and yet you kept asking. But you have never had any losses from my lies. In fact you suffered no losses at all. There are things I can't say and couldn't say and please stop asking. Let me heal my wounds will you?" and he walked out and Sik Sik, intrigued.

Pause.

I find her so annoying. I know she is supposed to be cute, etc but I thought she crossed the line with the insult to his mom, her doubting him all the time and acted as if she deserved the truth when he was right to say he owed her nothing.

Continue.

Some flashback scene. Ruco was an award winning composer who won awards. But his woman dumped him and we don't get to see her face just yet. Heartbroken, he was drunk when his car smashed into a tree. Thereon he discovered he had like writer's block or in his case, composer block and he couldn't write another song.

Back to present time.

Curious Sik Sik investigated the music scene 3 years back and I suppose she found out he was a composer then.

Later Char Gor and gang wanted to celebrate something and amongst the suggestion was karaoke. Don't know why Sik Sik chose to sorta tease Ruco about him being tone deaf, wouldn't like karaoke, etc. I know what that was supposed to mean. She was very curious about him, wanted to know more, wanted to push his boundaries and all that but why do I feel so annoyed with her? Give him room to breath woman! At the karaoke when someone suggested a song composed by Ruco, at least she did something decent. She quickly covered the credit on the screen with Ruco's name on it and Ruco was thankful for what she did. Outside he told her so but Sik Sik pretended not to care. But I think here she asked why he came back now and he said something like he couldn't run away anymore and decided to stay and face his problems head on. I think she was confused but asked no more. After all Sik Sik didn't know why he left in the first place.

And then the rest of this episode deals with Sik Sik's bro in law, Jun Weng and her ungrateful bossy childish sister who thought Jun Weng was having an affair with dessert lady played by the beautiful Hong Wah. Of course he didn't but he thought he did since he woke up naked next to the lady when in fact the lady carried him to bed, took off his clothes and acted as if he did had sex with her because she wanted him.

There was a little bit about the 2 irrelevant people in Malaysia which I feel I wouldn't want to waste my time recapping.

What I want now is for Sik Sik and Ruco to start their romance, but not before Elaine appears to wreck havoc on them I suppose. Only episode 13 but I felt like this series should be nearing its end and yet it has yet to begun. Terrible pacing. And again I hate Sik Sik because she was supposed to be inquisitive but in the end she turns out to be quite abusive and violent and darn insensitive. That's not on paper but that was the impression I got.

The only shining light apart from the supporting cast is of course Ruco Chan who displayed some very good acting in that lift where he chastised Sik Sik which I thought she totally deserved that treatment. He should stop being her guardian angel or even her punching bag. Unfortunately love stories these days takes the macho out of a man and instill in them oversensitivity. Frankly Sik Sik does not deserve him.

I do have one question about the plot though. I suppose he wrote that song "I really want to hate you" song, that nasal song 3 years ago which led to his award, right? Then Jason Lam, the famous singer that Marco handles asked him to write him a song? I thought he didn't deliver since he was so heart broken he crashed his car and couldn't write another song anymore? So why was that song in that karaoke scene supposedly written by him? And was Elaine his childhood sweetheart? Was that why he was so hurt? And yet he flirts a lot with Sik Sik. Does he see Sik Sik as his muse? Will he then write the subsong which he will sing later on? If yes, WHEN? Because I've had it with that nasal song.

When will this series ever start with Kung Tzi-Sik Sik romance? It is now 13 episodes and not a sniff of romance in sight.

  1. I agree that Sik-Sik is sometimes overly critical and unnecessarily mean to Ruco...but maybe the reason is because she was so hurt by Nic perviously that now it's hard for her to trust again. Also maybe she's subconciously taking out her anger towards Nic on Ruco. Of course it's not fair to Ruco, but may explain her behavior.

I don't agree that there has been no sniff of romance in sight. There's been a few subtle but notable scenes, e.g. (1) the pretend date ending in Sik-Sik stealing Ruco's coconut and (2) when Sik-Sik helps Ruco by covering the screen during karaoke. These scenes are not overly romanced but shows Ruco and Sik-Sik's growing fondness and affection for each other. It's definitely slow, but in my experience, that how real romance starts.

It's understandable that their romance has been slow to start because both Sik-Sik and Ruco have previously so hurt by love. I think the pace of their romance is realistic to real life.

    1. She should have reserved her anger and meanness to Nic and not Ruco who wasn't the one who hurt her. And I disagree on the so called romance. Those aren't romance. Those are friendship thing. I mean dating, real dating. It has been 13 episodes and ongoing, for a series that is about romance I don't see any yet and I am losing my patience. And that is not realism when you have someone so violent and rude to another and all we have is the guy being incredibly patient with her.

  2. Found your blog today and have been reading. :)

In episode 11's recap, you wrote, "Obviously Sik Sik is curious about Kung Tzi which is good but if Kung Tzi likes her, but not yet attracted to her why tease her so? Why almost kiss her?"

I've been confused about this too but after the most recent episode, I think I understand why. He's afraid to fall in love after being so hurt in the past but finds himself inexplicably attracted to Sik-Sik, so he gets close (literally) only to pull away. Maybe he doesn't even know what he want from/with Sik-Sik.

His previous heartbreak might also explain why he doesn't ever seem to mind that Sik-Sik is so unnecessarily mean to him- because he's been so hurt in the past that nothing phases him anymore (or maybe he's just a super nice person).

    1. I think like you said, he is just a super nice person to Sik Sik. I don't like her rudeness to him as translating as attracted to him etc. I don't find such an attitude romantic at all. I feel it is so one sided and heavy handed.
